Created during Free Oakland Up's summer Artist Residency. Made from Cardboard, newspaper, rice paste, sequins, tempura and gold baleen.
Interior filled with plastic free candy (tootsie rolls and kisses) and prizes crafted from repurposed materials, originally discards and donations, made valuable again. Highlighting plastics inside the whale is a call to consider our responsibility to the ocean and the myriad of creatures who die from encountering plastic waste every year.
